spring break

My first seminary spring break. We went on a road trip to go camping at Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky for four days. We cooked our meals over the fire and coleman stove and even got to shower once during the trip. I got to know some of my friends from seminary a lot better. Although there were some rough patches on the trip; we still had a ton of fun. We arrived in Kentucky, and it was beautiful. It was 80 some degrees; but then we forgot a few essentials for our campsite and drove around for 2 hours to find a lighter fluid for our coleman stove. Our first night camping, there was a thunder storm, and our sleeping bags, tent, and everything else got really wet. The next morning we woke up to 30 degree temperatures and the weather for the rest of the week continued to stay in the mid to upper 30's. Did I mention that we were missing a sleeping bag? One of the guys ended up not using a sleeping bag the entire trip. He was a trooper! We took a short tour of the caves, which were pretty cool . We packed up a day early, and decided to drive half way home and get a nice hotel. We deserved it. Sadly, we didn't take too many photos, but we made some good memories.

After spending more and 18+ hours in a car, then I left within an hour of arriving in Grand Rapids to head for home to Pella, Iowa. It was a short trip but really good. I got to see my family and spend a lot of time driving to and from Chicago with my little brother. My mom, my sisters, and I explored our new super-walmart in Pella. And we celebrated my birthday by going out for steaks. Can life get much better? I think not!

I spent almost fourty hours in a car in a week! But it was great.
